Albion Basin Intimate Wedding | Alta, Utah

Utah Elopement Phtographers - Albion Basin Elopement Styled Ceremony

This sunrise Albion Basin intimate vows exchange ceremony was an absolute dream. Albion Basin is located in Alta, Utah in Little Cottonwood Canyon and during the summer moths it blooms with wildflowers we chose to meet at sunrise to avoid the crowds that tend to gather in the evenings, and because the morning light in the canyon is better, in our opinion. Just a scenic 45-minute drive from downtown Salt Lake City, you'll find the breathtaking Alta Ski Area and the enchanting Albion Basin wildflower meadows. Nestled along the winding roads of Little Cottonwood Canyon, this hidden gem offers a perfect getaway.

PLANNING YOUR ELOPEMENT, BRIDAL SESSION OR INTIMATE WEDDING AT ALBION BASIN

Albion Basin is famous for its breathtaking wildflowers during the summer months and it provides a stunning backdrop for your photoshoot. As of July 2022, you generally won't need a permit for your session, but it's always wise to double-check the latest regulations before planning your visit.

Albion Basin is nestled up Little Cottonwood Canyon, beyond the ski resorts. You have a couple of options for accessing this picturesque location:

  1. Hike from the Bottom: You can start your adventure by hiking from the bottom parking lot.

  2. Catherine’s Pass Trailhead: Another option is to park at Catherine’s Pass Trailhead. From there, you can access Albion Basin and immerse yourself in its natural beauty. You will pass a toll booth. Keep in mind that this toll booth charges a fee of $10 per vehicle.

PRACTICE LEAVE NO TRACE PRINCIPLES ON YOUR ELOPEMENT DAY AT ALBION BASIN

  • Stick to designated trails, leaving behind no evidence of your passage.

  • Admire the wildflowers, but please refrain from picking or trampling them.

  • Embrace the Leave No Trace principles to protect this delicate ecosystem.

  • Avoid hiking or biking on muddy trails to prevent damage.

  • Local laws prohibit dogs in the watershed.

Albion Basin is a delicate ecosystem, especially cherished for its vibrant wildflowers. To preserve this natural wonder, it's crucial to be mindful of your surroundings. Please refrain from trampling or stepping on the flowers, and stay on designated trails. As a photographers who adhere to the Leave No Trace policies, we ensure that our photoshoot respects and protects the pristine wilderness of Albion Basin.

SUNRISE VS. SUNSET

When planning your session or intimate wedding consider the unique lighting and atmosphere Albion Basin offers at different times of the day. A sunrise session can infuse your photos with the soft, early morning glow, while a sunset session paints the sky with stunning hues. The choice is yours, and either way, Albion Basin promises to be an enchanting setting for your bridal or formal session. We highly recommend a sunrise shoot to avoid the crowds and because the light in the canyon (in our experience) is better early morning.
