When most people imagine an elopement, they picture just the two of you running off to the desert and while that’s beautiful, there’s something incredibly special about including your kids in the adventure too.
This sweet elopement in Moab was the perfect example of how intimate and meaningful a day can be when you make it your own. They got ready together at their Airbnb, shared a first look by the Colorado River, and said their vows with Castletown Tower in the distance with their three kids front and center the whole time.
If you’re wondering how to elope in Moab with family, this story is full of inspiration (and a few happy tears).

Getting Ready at Their Airbnb in Moab
We met them at their Airbnb where the whole family was getting ready together. The energy was relaxed and full of excitement, no rush, just letting the day unfold. The kids helped each other get dressed, and we got to capture those in-between moments that you just can’t plan.
A Private First Look by the Colorado River
We drove to the first look location in separate cars, we had the groom ride with us.
We found a quiet little beach along the Colorado River, and they shared their first look there with the water flowing behind them and red cliffs all around. Just the two of them, tucked away from everything else.
It was peaceful, full of emotion, and such a beautiful moment to breathe together before the ceremony.
Ceremony with Castletown Tower and Parriott Mesa Views
Their ceremony spot had Castletown Tower and Parriott Mesa in the distance one of those iconic Moab views. A local Moab officiant led the ceremony, and the three kids stood nearby, soaking it all in.
As the kids wrote sweet letters for the couple, emotions ran high. It wasn’t a grand production; it was genuine, personal, and filled with meaningful details that made the moment unforgettable.
Champagne, Snacks, and Golden Hour Magic
After the ceremony, they popped champagne, shared snacks, and took in the moment. We did some group photos (including a few silly ones with the kids), then let the couple wander off for some just-the-two-of-them portraits in the golden hour desert light.
It was slow and simple no timeline stress, no distractions. Just family, nature, and love.
