Winter Ski Elopement in Deer Valley Utah

K and T' Deer Valley ski elopement was everything they wanted; easy, low-stress, personal, and full of the things they love most: fresh snow, mountain views, and skiing together.

Instead of planning a big traditional wedding, they decided to turn their day into an adventure. We met them at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah, where they got ready, exchanged vows on the mountain, and made some fresh turns in their wedding gear.

Why Choose a Ski Elopement at Deer Valley?

If you’re thinking about a Deer Valley ski elopement, you’re in for something pretty special. Deer Valley is known for its beautifully groomed runs, easy access, and overall luxury vibe — but it still feels relaxed and welcoming. It’s perfect for couples who want a day that feels adventurous but still polished.

Plus, the views are unreal. You get everything from wide open mountain landscapes to cozy alpine lodges, all without having to hike for miles in heavy snow.

If skiing is already part of your story together, it just makes sense to tie the knot somewhere that feels like “home.”

What Their Day Looked Like

K and T kept things super relaxed no strict timeline, no big production.

Their ceremony took place at a picturesque frozen lake near Deer Valley Resort. Leti officiated and made the whole process easy and stress-free, making sure their marriage was legal (yes, we’re ordained and can officiate your elopement too!).

After they exchanged vows, we geared up, drove over to the Jordanelle Express lift, and hopped on for some skiing shots, K skied in her wedding dress — and absolutely crushed it.

We also made time for some gondola photos and a few casual moments just soaking in the views.

Everything about the day felt natural, like it was unfolding exactly the way it was meant to. We wrapped up the adventure with some après drinks at Stein Eriksen Lodge — the perfect end to an epic day.

Tips for Planning Your Own Ski Elopement at Deer Valley

  • Timing matters: January through early March usually offers the best snow without super brutal temps.

  • Wear smart layers: Nude-colored base layers and heated vests are a game changer. (We even photographed a bride once who wore a heated vest under her fur jacket and it didn’t show at all.)

  • Lift tickets and lodging: Book early — Deer Valley can fill up fast, especially around holiday weekends.

  • Ski gear: Make sure your gear is dialed — easier to focus on the day when you’re not fighting with rentals.

  • Pick a photographer who can ski with you: (Hey, that’s us! 😉) It makes the whole day flow so much smoother when your team can actually keep up with you on the mountain.

There’s just something about skiing down a mountain in a wedding dress that hits differently you are choosing a day that resonates with what you love the most, plus the pictures are to remember for ever and show the generations to come.

Kaitlyn and Travis’ Deer Valley ski elopement was laid-back, adventurous, and completely centered on what mattered most to them — getting married their way, without all the extra noise.
